Boat’s crew member airlifted to hospital
The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 37-year-old Filipino crew member experiencing severe abdominal pain while aboard the motor vessel Bunga Kasturi Enam, about 34 miles north of Oahu, Tuesday.
At about 6 a.m. an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point hoisted the man aboard and transported him in stable condition to the Queen’s Medical Center.
At 12:28 a.m. Friday the Coast Guard Joint Rescue Coordination Center received a relayed report from Coast Guard Pacific Area command that the Bunga Kasturi Enam had a crew member who was experiencing severe abdominal pain.
A Coast Guard flight surgeon was consulted and recommended a medevac as soon as the motor vessel was close enough to shore for helicopter air crews to hoist the crew member aboard.
