Ever run for public office? If so, when? Outcome?
This is my first time running for public office.
Other civic experience or community service?
What makes you qualified to be a U.S. representative?
I am a U.S. citizen and over 25 years old. America was founded by young people that wanted to help protect a society based on liberty. I represent that same brand of young energy needed in congress.
Do you support the use of United States combat troops in Syria to defeat ISIS, or to end the rule of President Bashar al-Assad?
American troops should not be used to determine the outcome of foreign politics. We are not the world police and continuing to act as if we are only serves to create more enemies. The war on terror has failed and needs to end.
Do you support the continued use of U.S. troops in Iraq, or should those troops be withdrawn?
The war in Iraq was a massive mistake of the U.S. government and has cost the lives of 4,486 service members. It is time to end the occupation and let the people of Iraq determine what they want for themselves.
Do you support the continued use of U.S. troops in Afghanistan, or should those troops be withdrawn?
The occupation of Afghanistan should have ended the day after the death of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan. Our continued presence in the country only keeps service members at risk. What gains we’ve made in Afghanistan are being lost as the costs rise.
Should the United States recognize a Native Hawaiian government through an administrative rule or an act of Congress?
Any race-based legislation should not be recognized by the U.S. government as it is discriminatory and counter to the Constitution. Any independence movement does not need recognition from the U.S. government and should be able to stand on their own merits.
What changes should be made to the federal Affordable Care Act?
A full repeal of the ACA is what we need. Get government out of health care and allow people to purchase competitive medical care across state lines, you will see the costs go down around the nation.
Should the federal government legalize marijuana?
Cannabis should be completely legalized at all levels. Just as ending prohibition brought an end to the dangerous black market in alcohol, the very same will happen with the legalization of cannabis. Local grown industrial hemp is also a great alternative to shipping paper goods into Hawaii.
