Honolulu police opened an attempted murder investigation after a woman driving an SUV rammed multiple vehicles Wednesday morning in Kaneohe, police said.
Honolulu police spokeswoman Michelle Yu said the incident started shortly after 11 a.m. with a report of an SUV being driven hazardously by a woman near Kualoa Regional Park. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle at the time, but about half an hour later, the same SUV was involved in multiple collisions near Kahekili and Likelike highways, Yu said.
Police said the woman had been involved in a domestic argument with a man and rammed his vehicle. He got out and after he jumped into a stranger’s vehicle to escape, the woman rammed the stranger’s vehicle several times to try to stop the man, police said.
The man got out and was threatened by the woman to get into the SUV. He got into the SUV and was later located at Castle Medical Center, where he was seeking treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital in good condition.
The woman fled and police found the SUV she was driving in Waianae that afternoon.
Police closed the Kaneohe-bound lanes of Likelike Highway, between Kahekili Highway and Anoi Road, for several hours to investigate.
The woman, who was still at large Wednesday evening, also faces possible charges for car theft and leaving the scene of a collision.
