Honolulu police opened an attempted murder investigation after a woman driving an SUV rammed another vehicle this morning in Kaneohe, HPD spokeswoman Michelle Yu said.

Kaneohe-bound lanes of Likelike Highway, between Kahekili Highway and Anoi Road, were closed at about 12:30 p.m. for an investigation of the car-ramming incident, police said. The road was reopened by 5 p.m.

According to a Honolulu Police Department report, a woman rammed another vehicle several times while trying to stop a man she was arguing with in Kaneohe.

The woman had been involved in a domestic argument with the man and was attempting to chase him down when he jumped into a stranger’s vehicle to flee the scene, police said.

The woman then rammed the other driver’s car at least three times between Kahikili and Likelike Highway about 11:30 a.m.

A man got out of one of the damaged vehicles but was threatened by the woman to get into the SUV.

He was later located at Castle Medical Center where he was seeking treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

The woman also fled and police later found her vehicle in Waianae.

Police are still looking for the woman, who faces possible charges for car theft and leaving the scene of a collision.

Dumb and Dumber. Ramming a stranger’s car. Assault with a deadly weapon, and here’s she gonna run? Cops know exactly who she is and where she lives. Cannot hide in auntie’s closet for evah.

Ridiculous and needless road closure, affecting thousands of motorists, all based on an “investigation” without injury to any party. Unfortunately, the windward side gets little attention when traffic is snarled. I knew about some vague kind of incident by 1PM, but had to actually make the drive before learning the extent of the disruption.
