Fire personnel Thursday afternoon rescued a woman who survived a 100-foot fall over a guardrail of the H-3 freeway between the Harano Tunnels after a one-car crash, according to Honolulu Fire Department Capt. David Jenkins.
Jenkins said after the woman’s car was involved in the accident in the Kaneohe-bound lanes of the freeway, she got out of the vehicle and fell over the guardrail.
Firefighters responding to the scene at 5:40 p.m. were able to talk with the woman, and personnel had hiked to her location by 6:12 p.m., Jenkins said.
“She was alert and able to speak with personnel, and reported that she fell from the highway approximately two hours prior,” Jenkins said.
The patient was stabilized, treated for her injuries, hoisted back up to the freeway and transferred to Emergency Medical Services personnel. Her condition was not available Thursday night.
