  33. KWAY says:

Such a great guy (first) and excellent newscaster. He always poked fun at himself, and was a pleasure to watch this pro at work. Glad he had Linda at his side as he lifted himself from some past personal troubles. Kirk’s legacy dwarfs all the cookie cutter look-at-me-me-me news people on TV now. You know who you are, take a lesson from this news legend.

  34. Da Gr8 808 says:

My condolences to Linda and the Matthews ohana. I had the pleasure of working with Kirk at KHON years ago. Kirk never felt he was a star, or celbrity, just because he was reporting or anchoring, and the stories he reported on were always genuine, and showed his love for Hawaii and its people. He always treated everyone with dignity and respect, a rare quality for anyone in the industry to possess. You will be missed, but I know that those that knew you as family, friend, co-worker, or acquaintance feel the same way. God Bless and Rest In Peace.
