Hawaiian Airlines earned top honors at this year’s Skytrax World Airline Awards after being named recipient of the Best Airline Staff — North America award, which recognizes service excellence across all areas of front-line customer service.
This year’s winners of the World Airline Awards, the global benchmark of airline excellence, were announced Tuesday at the Farnborough Airshow in England. Each year, travelers from across the globe participate in the world’s largest airline passenger satisfaction survey, where winners are determined by customer satisfaction of staff efficiency, friendliness, service and hospitality, and overall quality consistency of the airline’s staff. Hawaiian was a first-time winner of the award.
Island Air punctual on nearly all flights
Island Air said Tuesday it completed 99.6 percent of its 1,006 scheduled flights in June with four cancellations and that 91 percent of its flights arrived on time.
For the second quarter of the year, the state’s second-largest airline completed 99.5 percent of its 2,950 flights, and 89.8 percent of its flights arrived on time.
“During the second quarter, our team was focused on several important operational changes, including the newly restored Lihue route which started up toward the end of the previous quarter, the launch of service to Kona in June, and the addition of more than 50 employees to the Island Air ohana,” Island Air President and CEO David Uchiyama said.
