>> As of Friday, Kolten Wong (Kamehameha-Hawaii, Hawaii) was 8-for-31 (.258) since his return from the minors with five runs scored, one RBI and no extra-base hits.
>> Kirby Yates (Kauai) was summoned from the New York Yankees bullpen Monday after a three-hour-plus rain delay and proceeded to blow a 6-5 lead by hitting three batters and allowing two hits in a 9-6 loss.
Said Yates after the loss: “It’s very frustrating, especially the fact that I had two strikes on every single guy I hit. I mean, we were one pitch away from winning a baseball game; instead we lose by three runs. It doesn’t feel good. It’s not something I’m proud of, but it happens. Tomorrow’s another day. Come back and win tomorrow.’’ The next day, Yates was demoted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
>> Buffalo reliever Dustin Antolin (Mililani) was selected to the Triple-A All-Star Game. He will represent the International League in the game on July 13.
>> The Elk Grove Citizen ran a feature on David Freitas (Hawaii) on Friday: 808ne.ws/DavidFreitas
>> The White Sox promoted pitcher Matt Cooper (Hawaii) to Class AA Birmingham debut when Blair Walters (Hawaii) went on the disabled list. Cooper earned the win in his Barons debut on June 25 with three scoreless innings.
>> After holding opponents scoreless in his first four appearances with Class A Advanced Jupiter, Scott Squier (Hawaii) had a rough week, giving up 10 earned runs on 15 hits in five innings across two relief stints.
>> Quintin Torres-Costa (Waiakea, Hawaii) had a nice week, striking out 12 in five innings while giving up one earned run on five hits. He earned a win in his only decision.
