Complaints about bad driver led to arrest of suspected drug dealer
Bad driving led to the arrest of a 39-year-old Hilo man on multiple drug and weapons charges, Hawaii County police said.
Officials charged Cory Young on Friday with first-degree methamphetamine trafficking, four counts of third-degree promotion of dangerous drugs, first-degree promotion of detrimental drugs, second-degree promotion of detrimental drugs, two counts of possessing drug paraphernalia and eight firearm offenses. He is also charged with reckless driving, driving without a license and driving without insurance.
Young’s arrest came after police pulled him over following reports of a reckless driver headed in the Kona direction on the Daniel K. Inouye Highway, formerly known as the Saddle Road.
After pulling him over near the Route 190 intersection on Wednesday, officers discovered he was wanted in a narcotics investigation, arrested him after finding .2 grams of methamphetamine and $4,425 in his possession, and obtained a search warrant for his car, after towing it to the South Kohala police station.
Detectives executed the search warrant on Thursday and recovered a loaded 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, 29 unspent rounds of ammunition, 189.4 grams of methamphetamine packaged for distribution, 0.6 grams of cocaine, 18 hydrocodone pills, 4 morphine pills, 202.2 grams of marijuana packaged for distribution, and paraphernalia associated with the use and distribution of methamphetamine and marijuana.
Young’s bail was set at $297,000. He remains at the cellblock pending his initial court appearance scheduled for Tuesday.

Drugs on the Big Island are out of control.
Drugs are a big problem every where, hon 🙂 Even in North Dakota.
Yes, you don’t see people smuggling drugs into Mexico.
LOL – I’m going to take a wild guess that you are one of the last posters here who has not yet figured out that Allie is a guy.
Scary place North Dakota
Shouldn’t drive without insurance
Proving the point: most criminals are stupid.
Let’s hope he stays in jail for a long time!
glad this guy is off the streets.
Braddah hit da jackpot…
He will be out sooner than later….they should make him eat all his drugs at one time, pump his stomach, then eat his lunch again….then tattoo on his forehead “I am a drug dealer”.
This guy was loaded to the max.
Big Island police have their hands full.
