Puna man charged with multiple murders
Hawaii island police charged a Puna man on Saturday night in connection with multiple murders in Leilani Estates.
John Ali Hoffman, 49, was charged with first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree murder following his arrest Friday.
His bail was set at $2.75 million, and a court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
Hoffman was arrested Friday night after police found the body of a woman inside his car trunk and the bodies of two children in his home.
The bodies were later identified as Hoffman’s wife and children.
