The Ho‘okupu Aloha fundraiser returns for a 17th year on Saturday at Kualoa Ranch with hula, musical entertainment and other family fun.
Hoku Zuttermeister and other luminaries in Hawaiian entertainment appear each year in support of the event, which is the main fundraiser for Kuhai Halau ‘o Kahealani Pa ‘Olapa Kahiko, led by kumu Mary Kupau.
The event is free and hula-centric, but food is a focus of the halau, said spokeswoman Jessie Royse.

Prices range from about $2 to about $8, depending on the food item.
In addition to the food and entertainment, crafters will offer their wares.
The annual Ho‘okupu Aloha is “a free community event that showcases 200 dancers, and it’s free for the public,” Royse said.
“Huge tents” will be set up so attendees can spread out beach mats or blankets or set up beach chairs and relax.
