The advisory includes the cities of Manele and Lanai City.

Forecasters said winds will increase behind a cold front moving across the area.

Motorists are urged to drive with extreme caution.

A cold front moving across the state brought showers to Oahu this afternoon that are likely to continue into the evening.

Forecasters also expects wind to pick up after the front passes. Northeast winds of 15 to 20 mph could gust to 40 mph in some places tonight through Wednesday.

Nearly an inch of rain fell on Kokee on Kauai in the 24 hour period ending at noon, most of it between 9 a.m. and noon. Wainiha got more than a half-inch of rain this morning.

National Weather Service forecasters expect the winds and rain will blow away the muggy, voggy weather that had been lingering over Oahu for the last couple of days.

“Rather wet conditions are expected for windward and mauka areas through much of the week as the remnant moisture associated with the stalled front remains anchored in place over the island chain,” weather officials said.

Winds will remain breezy at 15 to 25 mph through Thursday. The winds will likely be strong enough to blow a few windward and mauka showers over to leeward areas.

Light winds ahead of the front helped Kahului set a new high temperature record. The high of 90 degrees on Monday beat the old record of 89 set in 1953.
