Megan Huff’s days as the top sixth player in the Big West conference are likely over.
After being recognized as the conference’s top performer off the bench the last two years, the Rainbow Wahine center is projected for a starting role next season. But before preparing for that opportunity, she punctuated the season by producing in a reserve role one more time.

Huff posted game highs with 18 points and 13 rebounds in UH’s 66-50 loss to third-seeded UCLA in the first round of the NCAA tournament last Saturday in Los Angeles. She matched her career high in scoring while turning in her team-best fourth double-double of the season and sixth of her career. She went 9-for-10 from the free-throw line and blocked three shots and came up with two steals on defense.
Huff finished the season averaging 9.7 points and 6.5 rebounds, both good for second on the team, and led the Wahine with 33 blocks.
Huff began the fall with the UH volleyball team before making a full-time switch to basketball and will go into the offseason fueled by her NCAA tournament experience.
“It motivates me a lot because I know that I’m going to have to be a leader and do work to get us to win these games,” Huff said.
