No tsunami threat from magnitude 7.0 earthquake in Russia

An earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 7.0 struck on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia at about 5:25 p.m. Hawaii time.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says there is no tsunami threat from a deep, magnitude 7.0 earthquake that struck the Kamchtka Peninsula in Russia, near the Bering Sea.
The earthquake hit at about 5:25 p.m. Hawaii time, about 59 miles north of Yelizovo, Russia and 481 miles southeast of Magadan, Russia — some 1,557 miles north-northeast of Tokyo, Japan.
It was a deep earthquake, more than 99 miles below the earth’s surface.
Based on available data, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there is no danger of a tsunami for Hawaii or the Pacific.
