Woman hit by car in Waianae dies from injuries
A 57-year-old woman who was hit by a car while walking on Farrington Highway in Waianae late Tuesday night has died of her injuries.
The pedestrian died Friday after being hospitalized in critical condition since the accident, which took place at 10:49 p.m. Tuesday near the KFC restaurant on Kaupuni Street, police said.The Medical Examiner’s office said Saturday morning that it was unable to release her identity yet.
The motorist, a 29-year-old woman, struck the victim while driving east on Farrington Highway. The accident is still being investigated by police. The driver was not injured.
This was the second traffic fatality of the new year, compared to five at this time in 2015.
An 84-year-old man died Thursday after being struck by a car on Farrington Highway near Waianae’s Tamura Super Market on Wednesday afternoon. The Medical Examiner’s officeidentified the victim as Francisco Molina of Waianae.
Police said Molina was crossing Farrington Highway in front of Tamura Super Market outside of a crosswalk at 1:50 p.m. when he was hit. Speed and alcohol were factors in the accident,police said.
