On the Scene: Luncheon celebrates ‘Bill of Rights Day’

Former U.S. Sen. Daniel Akaka, sitting with his wife, Millie Akaka, were the guests of honor at a “Bill of Rights Day” luncheon Dec. 15 at the Pagoda Restaurant. Honolulu City Council Chairman Ernie Martin and Hawaii first lady Dawn Amano-Ige were among the friends and former staff members who attended. In his brief remarks after lunch Akaka told the party guests, “What I became, and what I was able to do, was because of you.”
