Strong earthquake in southern Mexico poses no tsunami threat to Hawaii

A strong earthquake struck at 9:49 a.m. Hawaii time 7 miles east-northeast of Tres Picos, Mexico at a depth of 60.2 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A strong earthquake this morning in southern Mexico does not pose a tsunami threat to Hawaii, according to officials at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

The temblor struck at 9:49 a.m. Hawaii time 7 miles east-northeast of Tres Picos, Mexico at a depth of 60.2 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

No injuries were immediately reported.
