Man, 31, charged in thwarted Ocean View home burglary
Hawaii County authorities charged a 31-year-old man in connection with the home invasion robbery of an Ocean View couple in their 70s.
Alan J. Dush was scheduled to appear in court today to face charges of burglary, robbery, terroristic threatening, assault, criminal property damage, unauthorized entry of motor vehicle, attempted theft and attempted car theft.
Police responded around 4 p.m. Sunday to a report of a man with a knife at a home on the 92-1600 block of Aloha Boulevard in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision.
Police said that after man had broken into the home, he threatened the husband and wife, both 73, with a knife and a rock. He then allegedly took keys from the man during a struggle and attempted to steal their car.
Police arrived as the suspect fled on foot. Officers gave chase and arrested Dush.
He remained in custody on $25,500 bail.
