Police have arrested a second suspect in connection with an incident earlier this month in which a 15-year-old boy was injured by shots fired from a BB gun.
Because the suspect is a minor, police are not releasing the person’s age or specifying the charges in the arrest that took place early Wednesday morning.
The Oct. 16 shooting incident occurred on Piikoi Street near Mott-Smith Drive in Makiki.
The entire matter will be handled in Family Court behind closed doors.
Following the shooting, police arrested Justin Souvana, 25, who was identified as the driver of a white van involved in the shooting.
The teenagers at the scene of the shooting said the van pulled up and stopped and the passenger fired at them.
Police found a van that matched the description parked at the 1400 block of Kona Street near Ala Moana Center and arrested Souvana.
Souvana, who did not provide police a home address when he was arrested, was booked on suspicion of six counts of second-degree assault. However, Souvana was later charged with second-degree hindering prosecution and released after he posted $2,000 bail Oct. 19.
He will be arraigned in District Court on Nov. 16. Souvana’s case is a misdemeanor.
The incident marked the 18th reported BB and/or pellet gun-related shooting on Oahu last month, and the sixth incident in which people were injured since Sept. 22.
