Tai Manu-Olevao closed the Rainbow Wahine volleyball team’s 13-match home stand with an efficient start to the Big West season.
The senior hit .342 with 17 kills and four errors in 38 swings to help UH sweep UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly last weekend to open conference play. She also scored from the service line with four aces, including a season-high three against Cal Poly, and was in on four blocks against UCSB.
Manu-Olevao set a career high with a .727 hitting percentage (eight kills, 11 attempts, no errors) in an early season win over American. But she also scuffled through two negative hitting nights before bouncing back with a season-high 16 kills in UH’s upset of No. 2 Florida on Sept. 11. Her hitting percentage edged north to .223 with last week’s performances.
