It’s not too early to start thinking about the holidays, and Nui Mono and Girlfriends is making your prep easier by hosting a pre-Christmas craft sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Palolo Hongwanji, 1641 Palolo Ave.
Available for sale will be an array of high-quality handcrafted items by designers, artists and vendors associated with Nui Mono boutique in Moiliili. The "girlfriends" are: Teru (Laurie Ito), Pitacus (Lisa Wiemken), Melons (Suzi Iizaki), Wabi Sabi (Irene Kawaguchi), Why Not Bead (Sherrie Rupert), Wendy Kim Messier, Kim Kono, Cora Yee, Bev Seki, Esther Nowell, Tutuvi (Colleen Kimura) and Marie Kodama.
Their creations include hand-sewn clothing, purses and jewelry.
In addition to the artisan wares, the Palolo Hongwanji Ladies Club will have fabric remnants for sale to quilters and other crafters and D.I.Y.ers.
Hui O Laulima, a cultural club, will oversee The Giving Back Corner, donating proceeds from sales of their award-winning cookbook, handmade gifts and treats to Okinawan cultural events and causes.
Admission and parking are free. Call Lue Zimmelman at 946-7407.
Kahala Mall offers an assist to nonprofits
Kahala Mall is seeking nonprofits to participate in its second annual Very Merry Event. Nonprofits can earn hundreds of dollars by selling $5 Kahala Mall shopping passes good Dec. 4 through 6. Each nonprofit keeps 100 percent of the proceeds from the passes.
Pass holders will have access to special deals and exclusive gifts with purchase from participating stores and restaurants. Each ticket holder also will have an opportunity to win one of five $100 Kahala Mall gift certificates, as well as a grand prize of a one-night stay in a scenic view room at The Kahala Hotel & Resort that includes a buffet breakfast for two at the Plumeria Beach House.
Last year, Kahala Mall assisted 45 nonprofits selling hundreds of Very Merry passes.
Community groups may sell the passes up until Dec. 4. The passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last, and will be limited to 100 per group.
