McGUINN PLAYS HAWAII THEATRE
Kevan Scott, left, talked backstage with Byrds founder Roger McGuinn and concert promoter Doug Allsopp after McGuinn entertained an appreciative crowd for more than 90 minutes Wednesday at the Hawaii Theatre. McGuinn lived up to expectations with his arrangements of Byrds hits, songs he’d written before and after the Byrds, and stories tying everything together. The set list also included a 19th-century folk song, “Rolling Down to Old Mohee,” about whalers looking forward to time off in Maui.
