Despite “threatening language” posted on social media Tuesday night, classes were held at Campbell High School Wednesday, but with police officers stationed at the Ewa Beach campus.

Donnalyn Dela Cruz, Department of Education spokeswoman, said the threat was posted on a Twitter account Thursday by a student.

Dela Cruz said school officials talked with the student and turned the matter over to police.

Police have classified the case as a terroristic threatening investigation.

“No matter the level of threat,” Dela Cruz said, “we still take all threats seriously.”

Campbell High School officials posted a message on the school’s website saying: “We are aware of a recent post to Twitter and are working with HPD to address the issue. We have made contact with the student who posted the message and will investigate the matter fully. Once again we implore students to use social media responsibly. School will be open tomorrow (8/19/15) and police officers will be on campus to assist school administration. Consequences will be issued to those found to be in violation of cyberbullying or other Chapter 19 violations. HPD will determine whether arrests are warranted.”

Classes will be held at the school, which has a student enrollment of 2,639, Thursday. No classes will be held Friday because it is a state holiday.
