Kudos to 33 Hawaii restaurants selected for Wine Spectator’s 2015 Restaurant Awards list.
Wine Spectator, the magazine that covers all areas of wine, from vineyard to table, and its role in contemporary culture, recognized more than 3,600 restaurants globally this year.
La Mer at the Halekulani hotel and Maui eateries Longhi’s Wailea and Nick’s Fishmarket received Best of Award of Excellence recognitions.
The other 30 establishments each received an Award of Excellence. Six Honolulu venues made the list: Alan Wong’s, Beachhouse at the Moana, BLT Steak, Chart House Waikiki, Il Lupino Trattoria and Wine Bar, and Morimoto Waikiki.
Maui restaurants garnered the most nods, with 18: The Banyan Tree, Capische?, Castaway Café, Fleetwood’s on Front St., Gerard’s, Hali‘imaile General Store, Honu Seafood & Pizza, Ka‘ana Kitchen, Ko, Lahaina Grill, Longhi’s Lahaina, Mala Ocean Tavern, Merriman’s Kapalua, Molokini Bar & Grille, Morimoto Maui, Pacific’o, Pulehu — An Italian Grill, and Sarento’s on the Beach.
On Kauai: Beach House Restaurant, Gaylord’s and Merriman’s Fish House. On the Big Island: Jackie Rey’s Ohana Grill, Manta & Pavilion Wine Bar and Merriman’s Restaurant.
Castaway Café, Jackie Rey’s and Mala were noted for the exceptional value of their wine pricing.
Il Lupino and Morimoto Waikiki were new winners.
