Thousands of Jehovah’s Witnesses will be attending three-day conventions in Mililani every weekend until Aug. 21.
The free annual 2015 Jehovah’s Witnesses regional conventions, which feature an “Imitate Jesus” theme, began June 26 at Mililani Tech Park, 239 Palii St. Meetings will be held from 9:20 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The public is welcome and no collections will be solicited.
Spokesman Bruce H. Wakuzawa said in a news release, “The focus of the convention is ways in which we can benefit ourselves, our families, and our communities by imitating Jesus. There are talks and video presentations designed for the general audience but also specifically for families and children. The speakers are mostly local elders from Hawaii.”
While last year’s international conference was held at the Hawai‘i Convention Center in Waikiki, the regional conventions are mostly attended by residents, and “we have a specially designed and built assembly hall in Mililani. While not ornate or extravagant, it is a very beautiful and functional building.
Most impressively, it was built by volunteers,” Wakuzawa said.
