Two Hawaii high school graduates were selected as delegates for the 2015 National Youth Science Camp.
Punahou School’s Susannah Lawhorn and Sacred Hearts Academy’s Leeyannah Santos are representing Hawaii in the 2015 National Youth Science Camp in West Virginia, which started in mid-June and wraps up Saturday. Delegates study with top scientists and professors from around the world.
Each year, scientists travel to the camp to hold lectures and help lead study sessions. This year’s topics include statistics and science policy, curing cancer and fractal mathematics.
Among other recent awards and honors:
» Maui High School senior Min Sung Kim has been admitted to Yale University and has been awarded a full, four-year QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship. Now in its 11th year, the 2014-2015 QuestBridge National College Match received 11,654 applications from students across the nation. Colleges selected 501 students. In addition to early admission, College Match Recipients are offered a full four-year scholarship by the partner college which covers tuition, room and board, and other expenses.
