Marcus Mariota and Hau‘oli Kikaha have been named 2014-15 recipients of prestigious Pac-12 Tom Hansen Conference Medals.
The conference said the medals, presented since 1960-61, recognize member institutions’ outstanding senior male and female student-athletes based on “the exhibition of the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.”
Mariota, a Saint Louis School and Oregon graduate, was a first-round pick (second overall) of the Tennessee Titans.
Kikaha, a Kahuku High and Washington graduate, was selected in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints.
Mariota and Kikaha will be among the medal winners featured in a one-hour “Pride of the Pac” show July 9 on the Pac-12 Networks.
Harris to row at Henley Royal Regatta
Peter Harris, a Punahou School and Cornell University alum, will compete in the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta that will be held Wednesday through Sunday at Henley-on-Thames, England.
Founded in 1839, the sporting and social event draws spectators and competitors from all over the world.
Harris will row as the two-man for the Cornell University lightweight eight crew seeking to win the Temple Challenge Cup. This crew won the Intercollegiate Rowing Association’s national championship at Mercer Lake in New Jersey in May and had an undefeated season for the second year in a row.
Harris, having never rowed before, walked on at Cornell as a freshman. At Punahou, he lettered in baseball, swimming and cross country.
