Firefighters contain Kunia Road brush fire
Honolulu firefighters have contained a 200-acre brush fire that threatened homes along Kuoo Street in Kunia on Monday.
The fire was first reported shortly after 6 p.m.
Nearly 80 Honolulu Fire Department personnel representing 28 companies responded to the blaze.
HFD spokesman David Jenkins said the fire came close to homes on Kuoo Street but was turned back before causing any damage.
No injuries were reported.
Jenkins said firefighters will keep watch over the area through the night and will re-evaluate the situation early Tuesday morning.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Police closed Kunia Road between Anonui Street and Plantation Road to facilitate HFD operations but reopened the road at 9:43 p.m. Monday.
