A 24-year-old Indiana woman will be extradited to Honolulu to stand trial in federal court for the alleged premeditated murder in November of an Army wife.
A Honolulu federal grand jury indicted Ailsa "Lisa" Jackson on Wednesday on a first-degree murder charge related to the stabbing death of Catherine Walker, 38, in her Aliamanu Military Reservation home.
A three-page unsealed federal indictment said the offense was committed after "substantial planning and premeditation."
At an extradition hearing Monday in Indianapolis, Jackson waived both detention and identity hearings, according to Anthony Geller, an assistant U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Indiana.
U.S. marshals will bring Jackson to Hawaii.
Death or life imprisonment are possible penalties for first-degree murder in federal court. The U.S. attorney in Hawaii, in consultation with the Justice Department, will decide whether to seek the death penalty.
The FBI arrested Jackson over the weekend in Fort Wayne, Ind., where she lives.
Walker’s body was found in her home on Morishige Lane at AMR at about 6:30 a.m. Nov. 15.
The city Medical Examiner’s Office said she died from stab wounds to the neck and torso and ruled her death a homicide.
Walker’s husband was a medic assigned to Tripler Army Medical Center at the time.
Army criminal investigators said they had concluded Walker’s death was not a random act or a robbery.
