An 88-year-old Kaneohe woman died after her car sideswiped another vehicle and crashed on Waikalua Road in Kaneohe on Sunday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. near the Kaneohe police station.

According to witnesses, the woman was slumped over her steering wheel and appeared to be unconscious at the time of the collision with the other car.

She was transported in critical condition to Castle Medical Center, where she later died.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 29-year-old Waipahu woman, was not injured.

Police closed Waikalua Road from Kamehameha Highway for more than two hours while a traffic investigation was conducted.
