Honolulu Fire Dept. firefighters put on their gear as they respond to a structure fire reported at 3419 East Manoa Road in Manoa. Multiple engine and ladder companies were sent to the fire.

Honolulu Fire Department investigators said Friday the causes of two separate house fires this week were undetermined.

Firefighters remained for seven hours at a Manoa house fire. They were called to the single-family home at 3419 E. Manoa Road at 9:17 p.m. Thursday. They arrived to find

the house engulfed in flames. Nine fire companies responded to the blaze and brought it under control within 27 minutes of the first company’s arrival at the scene at 9:22 p.m.

The home is considered a complete loss. Investigators estimated the fire caused $300,000 in damage to the house and $20,000 to its contents.

The cause and origin are undetermined. Damage to the house was so severe that it was too hazardous, due to the potential for collapse, for investigators to enter the charred building to conduct a full investigation, fire Capt. David Jen-kins said.

A father and his adult son were displaced by the fire.

At 6:19 p.m. Wednesday firefighters were called to a Hawaii Kai house fire. Damage to the single-story home at 1038 Luna-lilo Home Road was estimated at $200,000 to the structure, $20,000 to its contents, $5,000 to a neighboring house and $1,000 to two cars parked in front of the building.

The fire is believed to have started in the garage, officials said.

No injuries were reported in either fire.
