Hawaii tops UC Santa Barbara in women’s basketball
Junior guard Destiny King scored 15 points and senior guard Ashleigh Karaitiana added 13 as Hawaii pulled away from UC Santa Barbara 60-43 in a Big West women’s basketball game Thursday night at the Stan Sheriff Center.
King tied her career high with nine free throws and the Rainbow Wahine (14-7, 6-2) won their sixth straight this season and 11th consecutive Big West home game dating back to last year. Senior guard Shawna-Lei Kuehu added 10 points for Hawaii, which moved into a three-way tie for the conference lead with Long Beach State and Cal Poly.
The Rainbow Wahine conclude their four-game home stand Saturday when hosting the Mustangs.
Onome Jemerigbe led the Gauchos (0-21, 0-8) with 13 points.
Hawaii out rebounded UCSB 40-25 led by King’s nine.
