Police warn about counterfeit $50 bills in Hilo, Puna
Hawaii County police are warning about the use of counterfeit $50 bills in Hilo and Puna.
Several vendors at farmers markets in Hilo and Puna had received counterfeit bills, a man told police Wednesday.
Police say they have also received reports from other businesses in those districts.
The paper used for these counterfeit bills does not feel like genuine currency and the printing on the back of the bills does not look sharp, police said.
Anyone who receives a counterfeit bill or has information about who is distributing them is asked to call the Police Department’s nonemergency line at 935-3311.
