Man charged with damaging vehicles while fleeing from police
Hawaii island police have charged a 27-year-old Mountain View man who allegedly damaged three vehicles while fleeing from police in a stolen truck on Wednesday.
A police officer spotted the stolen truck in the parking lot of a home improvement store and saw the suspect, identified as Jerald Cline, enter the truck and drive away.
As Cline attempted to evade the police officer, the truck he was operating struck two parked vehicles as well as the officer’s car. The truck nearly struck two pedestrians, police said.
On Thursday, police located and arrested Cline at a residence in Mountain View, where other stolen vehicles were also found.
Cline was charged Friday with three counts of first-degree terroristic threatening, three counts of criminal property damage, three counts of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, resisting an order to stop, resisting arrest, and an ammunitions violation. Cline is being held at the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $99,000 bail.
