No tsunami threat after 6.7 quake off New Zealand
There is no tsunami threat to Hawaii after a 6.7 earthquake struck off the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand Sunday afternoon.
The quake happened at 11:33 a.m. Monday (12:33 p.m. Sunday in Hawaii) and had a depth of 21 miles.
The earthquake struck about 110 miles east of Gisborne and about 151 miles east of Whakatane.
A pacific-wide tsunami is not expected, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
