Rescue crews aid 4 at Chinaman’s Hat, woman at Mokuluas
Ocean safety personnel participated in two significant rescue operations at the Mokulua Islands and Chinaman’s Hat on Sunday.
Around 2:15 p.m., lifeguards assisted four people — three adults and a child — who were stranded at Chinaman’s Hat after their watercraft broke down. No injuries were reported.
About two hours later, lifeguards joined Emergency Medical Services personnel and Honolulu firefighters in rescuing a 25-year-old woman who suffered an ankle injury after she was swept off a cliff on the backside of the Mokulua Islands. The woman, who fell approximately 20 feet, was transported in serious condition to a local trauma center.
