Rainy weather expected Thursday and on Halloween

National Weather Service forecasters expect winds and rains to pick up Thursday, with possible heavy showers on Kauai and Oahu.
The rainy weather will likely linger into Halloween and could dampen trick-or-treating.
Blame a weather system moving over the islands that is expected to stall over Oahu and Kauai.
Most of the rain should fall on windward and mauka areas. But tradewinds are also expected to pick up and blow some of the rain over leeward areas.
The forecast for south shores of Oahu, including Honolulu, calls for a 50 percent chance of rain and breezy tradewinds of 10 to 20 mph on Thursday and a 70 percent chance of rain Thursday night. There’s also a 50 percent chance of rain on Halloween and the rain could continue into Saturday.

Sunday should be mostly sunny with isolated showers.
Meanwhile, hotter than usual weather continued on Kauai Tuesday. The high of 86 degrees at Lihue Airport tied a record for the date set in 1994.
