» Teah Laupapa, 13, a student from Kapolei Middle School, is one of three U.S. representatives in the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest.
She received a letter of commendation from the city’s Office of Culture and Arts, and participated in the final awards ceremony Aug. 27 in Aichi prefecture, Japan. In addition to receiving the third-place prize in the 1215 age category in Toyota Hawaii’s 2014 Dream Car Art Contest, Laupapa’s entry was also selected as the "People’s Choice."
» Ramona K. Mullahey received the 2014 American Planning Association Divisions Council leadership award for exemplary service to the organization at its recent national conference.
The nonprofit educational organization provides leadership to more than 40,000 planning commissioners, planning directors and elected officials, among others, nationwide in the development of sustainable communities.
Mullahey, who is with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Honolulu Field Office, is the first recipient of the award. She has helped lead APA’s efforts to assist communities in planning for an aging population with the Aging in Community Policy Guide adopted in July by the APA board of directors.
