Expect warm and muggy conditions to continue into the weekend with only a little relief from tradewinds as remnants of former Hurricane Marie disrupt the cooling northeast tradewinds.

The lighter winds are still bringing windward and mauka showers in the morning and evening, but sea breezes and daytime heating are also allowing for the development of afternoon showers in leeward and mauka sections, forecasters said.

“The light winds will also keep bringing warm temperatures through the weekend with daily highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s. In addition, a rather moist airmass will also linger across the islands, providing humid/muggy and potentially uncomfortable weather conditions,” the National Weather Service said.

Moist tropical air from Marie will also move over the islands Friday and could bring a higher chance of afternoon showers in leeward and mauka areas Friday night into Saturday, forecasters said.

Tradewinds should strengthen enough by Sunday to bring some relief and diminish the chance of afternoon showers in leeward areas.

The forecast for Honolulu and south shores of Oahu calls for highs between 85 and 91 degrees through the weekend with light to moderate 10 to 15 mph winds.

There’s a 50 percent chance of rain Friday night, when the moister air is expected to move over Oahu.
