All the gubernatorial candidates on Olelo — so far
Much ado was made last week when Democratic candidate David Ige abruptly withdrew from the first gubernatorial forum of the general-election season; he cited disagreement over recording terms with event sponsor, the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii. The institute initially was disappoint- ed, but later proudly touted the discussion between Republican candidate Duke Aiona, Libertarian Jeff Davis and Independent Mufi Hannemann.
Today, all four gubernatorial hopefuls are expected at the West Oahu Economic Development Association’s forum. Olelo Community Media will cablecast the event live starting 11:30 a.m. on Channel 49 and also live-stream it at www.olelo.org. Here’s hoping it’ll be a lively first discussion with all four — there’s no word yet on any last-minute cancellations.
The highs and lows of UH-Manoa rankings
The good news is that the University of Hawaii-Manoa is included in the latest annual edition of the Princeton Review’s "The Best 379 Colleges." The bad news is that UH-Manoa did not make any of the book’s Top 20 lists for positive traits, but does appear on five lists ranking negative characteristics, based on student surveys.
UH-Manoa ranks among the colleges with the least happy students, least-accessible professors, lowest-ranked administrators, lowest-rated professors and worst library.
