Honolulu police arrested a 39-year-old man in the stabbing of three people in McCully early Sunday morning.
Paramedics took a 25-year-old man to the hospital in critical condition, along with another man and a woman, both 26, who were in serious condition.
The stabbings happened during a fight near the intersection of Beretania and Griffiths streets at 1:12 a.m. Sunday, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.
Police arrested a suspect on suspicion of attempted murder outside not far from the intersection of Beretania and Griffiths.
After being hospitalized with unknown injuries, the man was formally arrested at about 8:10 a.m. The police arrest log shows the suspect as having a home address near the scene.
At Cafe Anasia on Sunday afternoon, a woman working behind the bar who declined to give her name, said she was also working when the incident occurred. She said whatever commotion happened outside the establishment did not begin inside.
Griffiths Street resident Rhoda Kihikihi, 58, said she saw some flashing blue lights early Sunday morning but did not see what happened.
Kihikihi, who’s lived in her family home all her life, said the neighborhood has always been relatively quiet considering its location between the freeway and Beretania Street.
