Stolen car involved in police shooting located
Police recovered a stolen car on Friday, which was used by a suspect who allegedly tried to run down a police officer near Red Hill a day earlier.
Police found the 1990 gold-colored, four-door Toyota sedan at 5:30 a.m. in the Pearlridge Center parking lot, but the suspect remains at large.
The vehicle was stolen on Thursday, police said.
A police sergeant saw the Toyota around 11:15 a.m. Thursday on Moanalualani Place on Red Hill and stopped to talk to the driver.
The suspect refused to cooperate, got into the sedan, made a U-turn and drove straight toward the sergeant, police said. The sergeant fired one shot and jumped out of the way, injuring his hip. The suspect fled the scene.
Police described the suspect as a bald man, who was wearing sunglasses and a long-sleeve orange shirt.
