Register for workshop and take survey online
In preparation for an upcoming interfaith workshop at the University of Hawaii, the All Believers Network is asking participants to fill out a survey describing what God is like, according to religious understanding.
Visit www.AllBelievers.net to complete the survey on "Perception of Reality in Various Religions" and to register for the workshop.
The information obtained will be discussed at the workshop titled "Exploring Converging Paths of Religions," 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 1 at UH’s Shidler Hall auditorium. Co-sponsors include the UH Department of Religion and the Association for Promoting South Asian Culture (Milun).
Topics include:
» Exploring whether various religions revere the same concept of God, comparing similarities in symbolism, foods considered sacred, and rituals.
» Developing an "Interfaith Harmony Index."
» Compiling information on "Exemplars of Religions" (individuals contributing to societal good, regardless of religion).
» Starting interfaith curriculum development.
» Planning an All Believers Network international interfaith conference.
The $20 registration fee includes an outdoor buffet lunch. Make checks payable to co-sponsor Milun and mail to Harendra Panalal, Treasurer, 1702 Kewalo St., Penthouse 3, Honolulu, HI 96822 (phone: 538-6202). For more information, call Ahmed at 371-9360.
Learn about music’s role in worship
Maryland-based recording artist and minister Regi McClurkin will lead three gospel workshops at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Honolulu starting July 30.
McClurkin will focus on the development of skills and attitudes conducive to effective worship through music. The workshops will wrap up with a free Gospel Fest Aug. 2 at 5 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will go toward a land acquisition program to buy the property the church has stood on since 1977, according to pastor Dwight E. Cook.
