Honolulu Design and Construction Director Chris Takashige is leaving the city to join the state Department of Land and Natural Resources.
His last day is Friday. Takashige’s new job will be engineering program manager for DLNR’s Project Planning and Management Branch, said city spokes?man Jesse Broder Van Dyke.
Takashige has been department director since Mayor Kirk Caldwell took office in January 2013.
Caldwell has credited Takashige for pushing through his initiative to get more Oahu roads repaved.
Before being named head of the department, Takashige had been its deputy under former Mayor Peter Carlisle since 2011.
Caldwell has not yet named a successor. Deputy Director Mark Yonamine will serve as acting director, Broder Van Duke said.
