Police caught a purse-snatching suspect after she allegedly tried to grab a woman’s purse on a Waikiki sidewalk.

Police said the 27-year-old woman grabbed the purse of a 28-year-old woman walking with a friend at about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The purse’s chain purse strap broke, spilling the contents of the purse on the ground.

Police said the suspect took an item from the ground and tried to run away. The victim tried to stop her and then flagged down an officer, who arrested the suspect.
