"Family Ingredients," the locally produced television pilot that featured the food history of chef Alan Wong, has been picked up for national release by PBS, a first for a Hawaii production.
The program, hosted by chef Ed Kenney of Town restaurant, touches on food and culture via travelogue inspired by Hawaii’s multicultural community.
A series of eight half-hour shows is targeted to begin airing in May 2015. See mini webisodes on the site familyingredients.com.
The pilot aired last May on PBS Hawaii and profiled Wong’s hometown of Wahiawa, then traveled to Japan to seek the origins of foods he grew up on.
