Rains could become heavy this weekend
Saturday showers could become heavy on Sunday as a new weather system develops and Kona winds bring tropical moisture up from the south.
The risk of heavy rain is expected to continue on President’s Day, when thousands of runners will participate in the Great Aloha Run from Aloha Tower to Aloha Stadium.
The National Weather Service said conditions will clear slowly through the rest of the week. The sun may peek through the mostly cloudy conditions again on Wednesday and light tradewinds should return by next weekend.
Saturday’s forecast for Honolulu calls for mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers.
Winds will turn southerly on Sunday, bringing the chance of vog. The hazy conditions are likely to continue until trade winds return or heavy rains clear the air.
