Honolulu homicide detectives are investigating a second murder this week, following the death of a homeless man found outside a Kailua restaurant late Monday night with multiple stab wounds.
Emergency Medical Services said paramedics treated and transported a man in his 50s from Uluniu Street near Cinnamon’s Restaurant in extremely critical condition to the hospital about 11:45 p.m. He died at the hospital.
The victim was believed to have been sleeping in an area near the restaurant.
No suspects have been arrested, and there was no detailed description provided on who may have committed the stabbing.
Police used dogs to sweep the Kailua neighborhood early Tuesday morning to try to find a suspect.
It was the second fatal stabbing on Oahu in as many days.
In the Honolulu Police Department’s first murder investigation of the year, police are seeking at least two suspects in the stabbing death of Marlo G. Basuel, 42, Sunday night in a Waipahu home.
Paramedics took Basuel from a Kahuanani Street home at 9:48 p.m. Sunday to a hospital in "extremely critical condition."
Basuel died at the hospital, and the Medical Examiner’s Office described the cause as loss of blood "due to stab wounds of the torso."
Several people were attending a party at the Waipahu home when the incident occurred, police said.
