BYU-Hawaii rolls Holy Names in volleyball
Shih Ting Chen had 14 kills and 17 digs Friday to power No. 4-ranked Brigham Young-Hawaii to a 25-8, 25-14, 25-20 victory over Holy Names in Pacific West Conference women’s volleyball in Laie.
BYUH, 20-1 overall, leads the PacWest with a 15-1 record. The Hawks are 1-24 and 1-14.
Chen had 16 kills and 14 digs in Thursday’s 25-15, 25-15, 25-19 victory over Dominican.
» Kasey Thompson had 11 kills and Amanda Moriarity contributed 15 digs to lead Hawaii Pacific to a 25-15, 25-21, 25-17 victory over Notre Dame de Namur at St. Andrew’s Priory.
The Sea Warriors are 15-8 overall and 9-6 in the PacWest, while the Argonauts are 5-19 and 2-13.
On Thursday, Samantha Rummans had 12 kills and Haley Doerfler and Thompson 10 each as HPU swept Holy Names 25-21, 25-23, 25-18.

The Silverswords are 8-12 overall and 4-10 in the PacWest, while the Penguins are 9-16 and 6-9.
HPU men top Eastern Nazarene in exhibition
Hawaii Pacific men’s basketball team opened its season Friday with a 78-73 victory over Eastern Nazarene of Quincy, Mass., in an exhibition game at Moanalua High School.
The Sea Warriors next play Friday at UC Santa Barbara.
