Maui tourist killed in fall onto rocks
A 30-year-old man visiting from Redding, Calif., was killed Wednesday afternoon in a 30-foot fall from a cliff at Nakalele Point, the northernmost spot in west Maui.
A Maui County news release identified the man as Dominic Reginatto.
Napili and Lahaina firefighters, along with rescue personnel, responding to an emergency call about 12:15 p.m., were directed by bystanders to Nakalele’s blow hole, where Reginatto had fallen onto a rocky area. CPR was performed before fire crews and medics arrived and prepared him to be airlifted out.
Rescue personnel carried the victim to a landing zone near the highway.
The victim was later loaded into an ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.
Couple sought for questioning in assault
Hawaii County police want to question a Mountain View couple about a robbery and assault that took place in August in the parking lot of Coconut Island.
Sought are John Curtis K. Kuhia, 30; and his wife, Shanna Y. L. Carvalho-Kuhia, 36. Kuhia is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 188 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
Carvalho-Kuhia is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 300 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair.
Police said they are wanted for questioning about a 3 a.m. Aug. 6 incident in which a 26-year-old Hilo man was reportedly assaulted in the parking lot of Coconut Island. His truck, a white 2006 Toyota Tacoma, was taken and has not been found.

Suspect charged in theft of cellphone
A 26-year-old Ewa Beach man was arrested Wednesday morning on charges of taking an unattended cellphone, according to a Honolulu Police Department report.
Chance Gante was charged with second-degree theft, a Class C felony.
The incident inside a Waikiki business was caught on the establishment’s surveillance camera, and the suspect eventually was identified and arrested.
Gante’s bail was set at $15,000.
Attack on neighbors leads to arrest
Police arrested a 44-year-old Miliani woman for allegedly assaulting her two neighbors with a dangerous instrument.
The suspect allegedly struck her neighbors, a 53-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman, at 11:10 p.m. Monday.
Police arrested her five minutes later on suspicion of second-degree assault.
The case is pending investigation.
Man accused of stealing truck at airport
A 21-year-old Kona man has been charged with stealing a pickup truck from Kona Airport last weekend.
Colvin Gaspar of Kailua-Kona was arrested and charged with car theft and second-degree theft. His bail was set at $20,000.
The 2004 Toyota Tacoma was taken from a parking area at the airport and located Monday down an embankment off Koloko Drive.
